Week 7 showed us a lot. We saw Brett Hundley can’t pass on a defense like the Saints, we saw Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler go down with injuries and we saw Carson Wentz continue to light it up. Here are some moves that make sense to make this week:
Cut Cardinals WR’s John Brown, Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson
These guys have been OK plug and plays here and there with Carson Palmer under center but they’ve now lost all value with Carson Palmer out 8 weeks and either Drew Stanton or Blaine Gabbert under center. Larry Fitzgerald’s value takes a hit but he still figures to factor somewhat into the offense.
Pick Up Dolphins WR Kenny Stills
Stills had been up and down this year and that’s kind of how it should go when Jay Cutler is your quarterback. However, now that Cutler is out a few weeks with broken ribs, things are oddly looking up with backup QB Matt Moore under center. Upon relieving Cutler, Moore found Stills for 2 touchdowns. Stills even had a touchdown called back but Moore eventually found him again, so he’s actively looking for Stills. Stills is owned in just 23% of Yahoo leagues.
Pick Up Raiders RB Jalen Richard
Marshawn Lynch may only be suspended 1 game and appealing it (EDIT: suspension upheld), but this is a big opportunity for Richard nonetheless. Lynch has proven to be ineffective and Richard has shown to be more elusive. If Marshawn’s suspension is upheld, Richard will get a large load of the work and if he plays well, can factor into the offense more. Even if Marshawn suits up, Richard figures to steal some work going forward.
Pick Up Bengals TE Tyler Kroft
Tyler Eifert is out for the year and the Bengals don’t have many options in the passing game after AJ Green. Enter Tyler Kroft. Look, this isn’t the Bengals that we saw in Week 1 and 2. They can move the ball and have, mainly to Green and Kroft over the last 3 weeks. In that span, Kroft has secured at least 4 catches and has 3 touchdowns. Kroft is still young so the best may have been yet to come. If you’re a Travis Kelce, Delanie Walker, Hunter Henry, Rob Gronkowski, Kyle Rudolph or Zach Ertz owner, Kroft may be a good plug and play during their bye week.
Pick Up Jets RB Matt Forte
Yes his best days are behind him but Forte has actually been serviceable of late. We’re not saying he’s going to light up the fantasy scoreboard but he’s had 12.10 and 10.70 points in each of the last 2 weeks since returning from injury (half point PPR format). Many things are working in Forte’s favor right now. The Jets are not as bad as many thought, Bilal Powell is not becoming featured like many thought he would be and rookie running back Elijah McGuire has just 59 total yards in the 3 weeks following his breakout performance against Jacksonville. Owned in just 31% of Yahoo leagues, Forte figures to be a decent bye week or injury plug in going forward and should be rostered.
Other Notes: Trevor Siemian seems to have hit a wall leaving Demaryius Thomas as a questionable start on a week-to-week basis. Also on week-to-week watch should be the Packers wide receivers. QB Brett Hundley could not get much going through the air against the Saints which is alarming. Redskins WR Terrelle Pryor seems to have fallen out of favor in Washington. Pryor did not start during Monday night’s game vs Eagles and should not start for your fantasy team going forward. Ted Ginn Jr. is the real deal with the Saints and is a currently a top 25 WR.
